CAPAC Members Applaud the Confirmation of Portia Y. Wu as Assistant Secretary of Labor

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Portia Y. Wu as Assistant Secretary of the Employment and Training Administration at the Department of Labor. Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released the following statements:

Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), CAPAC Chair:
“I congratulate Portia Wu on her confirmation as the new Assistant Secretary of the Employment and Training Administration. Ms. Wu has a long history of dedication to public service, and I know she will continue to thrive in her new role. I look forward to working with her to ensure that Americans are equipped with the resources they need to find good jobs and succeed in the workplace.”

Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo (GU), CAPAC Vice Chair:
“I congratulate Portia Wu on her confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training Administration at the Department of Labor. Background:
Portia Y. Wu currently serves as Special Assistant to the President for Labor and Workforce Policy at the White House Domestic Policy Council (DPC). From 2011 to 2012, she served as the Senior Policy Advisor for Mobility and Opportunity at DPC. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, she was the Vice President at the National Partnership for Women and Families from 2010 to 2011.  From 2003 to 2010, Ms. Wu worked at the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee in a number of roles, including Labor and Pensions Counsel, Chief Labor and Pensions Counsel, and Labor Policy Director and General Counsel.
