CAPAC Chair Applauds Nomination of Jennifer Choe Groves to U.S. Court of International Trade

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), released the following statement applauding the nomination of Jennifer Choe Groves to the U.S. Court of International Trade. If confirmed, Groves will be the first Asian American and Pacific Islander judge to serve on this court.

“I am thrilled by President Obama's announcement to nominate Jennifer Choe Groves to the U.S. Court of International Trade. Ms. Groves' historic nomination is a testament to the President’s ongoing commitment to promote judicial diversity.

“With her extensive legal background in international trade, customs, and intellectual property, as well as her diverse experiences in both the public and private sectors, I have no doubt that Ms. Groves will be a strong addition to the U.S. Court of International Trade. I urge my Senate colleagues to move swiftly on her confirmation.”

Background:

Ms. Groves currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Titanium Law Group PLLC and Choe Groves Consulting LLC, where she provides legal services focused on international trade, intellectual property, and corporate law. Previously, she was a partner at the law firms of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC and Hughes Hubbard and Reed LLP. She has also served as the Senior Director of Intellectual Property and Innovation in the Office of the United States Trade Representative in the Executive Office of the President, as well as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Groves received her law degree from Columbia University School of Law
