Mar 25, 2021

Washington, D.C. — President Biden today nominated Seema Nanda as the Solicitor for the Department of Labor. Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Judy Chu (CA-27) issued the following statement:

“I am thrilled to congratulate Seema Nanda on her nomination to serve as Solicitor for the Department of Labor. As President Biden works to improve worker safety and opportunity, the Solicitor of Labor’s office will play a central role in fighting the legal battles and challenges . With experience as the Deputy Solicitor and Chief of Staff at the Department of Labor under Secretary Tom Perez, I know that Seema has the experience needed to be a champion for workers’ rights and vulnerable communities. Additionally, having already broken barriers as the first Indian-American to be CEO of the Democratic National Committee, Seema will add to the growing list of senior AAPIs in the Biden Administration who will help to ensure that our government reflects the diversity of our nation.”
