Washington, D.C. — President Biden this week announced his eighth round of judicial nominees, including John Chun, who would be the first Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) male on the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, Dale E. Ho, the only active AAPI male judge on the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, Jinsook Ohta, the first AAPI judge on the US District Court for the Southern District of California, and Loren L. AliKhan, the first AAPI judge on the DC Court of Appeals. Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) issued the following statement:

“Representation that reflects the true diversity of our country is essential in our government, and especially in the judiciary where understanding the experiences of other communities is vital to the work of justice. That is why I am so thrilled that President Biden has continued to nominate diverse judges to the bench, including four new historic AAPI judges. John Chun, Dale E. Ho, Jinsook Ohta, and Loren L. AliKhan are all accomplished legal minds with years of experience who will be valuable additions to our courts. I urge the Senate to act quickly on these nominees.”
