CAPAC Chair Leads 33 Members of Congress in Sending a Letter to President Biden in Support of Julie Su for Secretary of Labor
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) sent a letter along with 4 Senators and 29 Members of Congress urging President Biden to nominate Julie Su, who currently serves as the Deputy Secretary of Labor for the U.S. Department of Labor, for the Cabinet position of U.S. Secretary of Labor.
Chair Chu released the following statement:
“I am proud to send this bicameral letter along with 33 of my colleagues to the President to support Julie Su as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor. Deputy Secretary Su has dedicated her career to tirelessly fighting for workers’ rights and promoting good jobs and equity. Further, if nominated and confirmed, she would also be the first Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) to serve as a Cabinet Secretary in President Biden’s Administration. Because of her invaluable experience and perspective, we believe that Deputy Secretary Su is eminently qualified to lead the Department of Labor and successfully deliver results for all American workers.”
