CAPAC Chair Statement on Anti-Immigrant Amendments in the Inflation Reduction Act

August 5, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Today, ahead of expected weekend votes on the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States Senate, Rep. Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), issued the following statement concerning the possibility of anti-immigrant amendments:

“As the Senate prepares to vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, I strongly urge my Senate colleagues to reject any amendments which may be harmful to immigrant communities. While this legislative package is a win for AAPIs across the nation, adopting any such provisions will jeopardize its passage. I encourage my colleagues to stand united in our resolve to ensure the progress we are making is not at the expense of our own immigrant communities.”
