Washington, D.C. —  Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Chantale Wong to be U.S. Director of the Asian Development Bank, with a rank of Ambassador. Rep. Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), had supported Ambassador Wong’s nomination and issued the following statement:

“I’m thrilled to congratulate Chantale Wong and to have such an incredible leader confirmed as U.S. Director of the Asian Development Bank. Starting her career as an engineer, Ambassador Wong has successfully combined her scientific background with a strong commitment to public policy, serving in numerous positions throughout our government, including at the Department of Treasury, the Office of Management and Budget, the Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration, all of which have helped prepare her for this role. In addition to her years of work in international development and financial management, Ambassador Wong is also a true leader in the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, having established the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership to help guide young AAPIs seeking careers in public service. I’m proud to see such an excellent leader confirmed by the Senate and am grateful to President Biden for his ongoing commitment to selecting qualified candidates who reflect the true diversity of our country.”
