Jul 28, 2022

Washington, D.C. Today, the United States House of Representatives passed the CHIPS and Science Act, a bill which will provide over $50 billion in federal funding and tax credits to support domestic semiconductor research and development, as well as reauthorize and expand federal science research programs. Rep. Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), issued the following statement:

“I was proud to vote today for the CHIPS and Science Act, which will bolster our economy, create high-paying jobs, spur innovation and strengthen the United States’ position as a global leader in technology and industry. From critical investments in semiconductor production to funding to build out the STEM workforce, bolster scientific research, invest in green energy and so much more, this bill will strengthen our supply chains and build a more resilient and productive economy as we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. CAPAC’s priority throughout the negotiations process was to ensure no provisions included would harm AAPI communities here at home and I am very pleased to say we accomplished just that.”
