Washington, D.C. — Today, President Biden announced the nomination of Arun Subramanian to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Upon confirmation, he will be the first South Asian judge to serve on this Court. Rep. Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), issued the following statement:

“I am thrilled to hear of Arun Subramanian’s nomination to the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York. His robust experience from serving as a law clerk to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to previous work with the Southern District of New York to currently working as a partner at Susman Godfrey LLP in New York, will be tremendous assets as he embarks on this new path. I also applaud President Biden for continuing to honor his commitment to nominate highly qualified and diverse candidates that reflect the diversity of our country. I have full confidence Mr. Subramanian honorably and faithfully serve the Southern District of New York and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to confirm him swiftly.”
