CAPAC Chair Statement on Ravi Chaudhary’s Confirmation as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force

Mar 17, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C.Earlier this week, Dr. Ravi Chaudhary was confirmed by the Senate in a vote of 65-29 to serve as the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force at the Department of Defense.

CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) issued the following statement:

“Dr. Chaudhary’s career as a public servant makes him acutely qualified for this position, and I know he will help make our country and skies safer as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force. This position builds on an extensive career serving his country—as a veteran Air Force pilot who conducted numerous combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, as an engineer who supported aviation operations and worked with the International Space Station to ensure NASA astronauts’ safety, and as a member of President Obama's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who advocated for the needs of AAPI veterans.

“It is essential that our military as well as the Department of Defense leadership reflect America’s diversity. As the first South Asian American to lead our Air Force, Dr. Chaudhary will move us closer to that reality. I congratulate Dr. Chaudhary on his historic confirmation and look forward to working with him in his new role.
