CAPAC Leaders Meet with Biden Transition Team

December 7, 2020

Washington, D.C. — Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) Executive Committee met with the Biden-Harris Transition Team to discuss important personnel and policy priorities for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) issued the following statement:

“The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus had a positive meeting with the Biden-Harris Transition Team today. I appreciate the time they took to speak with our members on several important priorities for our caucus and the broader AAPI community. In the meeting, we highlighted how excited we are that one of our very own CAPAC Members, Kamala Harris, will be the first woman, first Asian American, and first Black Vice President in our nation’s history. We also discussed the critical need to ensure that AAPIs are well represented throughout the entire Biden-Harris Administration, particularly in the Cabinet and other senior roles. Members also raised important policy priorities, such as the need to address the disproportionate health and economic impacts of COVID-19 on AAPIs, concerns over growing anti-Asian racism throughout the pandemic, and prioritizing data disaggregation for the AAPI community. We look forward to working closely with President-Elect Biden to assemble a diverse administration and build our nation back better and stronger than ever before.”
