CAPAC Members Celebrate Holi

Mar 18, 2022

Washington, D.C. — Today, Members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) released the following statements to celebrate Holi, the South Asian holiday known as the Festival of Colors:

CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27):

“Happy Holi to everyone in the United States and around the world who is celebrating! The Festival of Colors is a vibrant commemoration of the arrival of spring, bringing positivity and light as we celebrate the triumph of good over evil. May this new season of renewal bring peace, joy, and prosperity to all.”

Congresswoman Grace Meng (NY-06), CAPAC First Vice-Chair:

"Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a joyous and centuries-old Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of Spring and the triumph of good over evil. Let us take today and every day to strive to spread compassion and tolerance in our communities. Let us also remember that just as Winter’s darkness gives way to Spring’s light, the obstacles we face now will give way to prosperity and ease as we move forward in unity. I send my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating in New York, across our country, and around the world. Happy Holi!"

Congressman Ted Lieu (CA-33), CAPAC Whip:

"Holi is a joyous celebration that brings together communities all over the world. Though the past two years have been challenging, we can count on the festival of colors to embody the beauty of spring and usher in a season of peace. As communities across the country celebrate Holi this year, we are reminded of its most enduring lesson— that good always triumphs over evil. Happy Holi!"

Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-07):

“Happy Holi to all those who celebrate in Sacramento County and around the world! Holi is a signal for the beginning of spring after a lengthy winter, and there has never been a more appropriate time to join with loved ones to celebrate all that is to come. For the past two years we have endured the long winter of the pandemic, and as we emerge, let us rejoice in a brighter future and a joyous spring.”

Congressman Al Green (TX-09):

“On behalf of myself and my CAPAC colleagues, I wish a very happy Holi to the Hindu community in the Ninth Congressional District of Texas and the greater Houston area. May the arrival of Spring, a colorful season of new beginnings, bring much hope and joy to all observants of this day.”

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07):

“Happy Holi to all who celebrate. This is one of my favorite times of the year – between the festival of colors, celebration of spring and new growth, triumph of good over evil, and communion, love, and gratitude – what’s not to enjoy!”

Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17):

“Wishing a happy Holi to everyone in our community in CA-17 and around the world celebrating. As we turn a corner on COVID, I hope this year’s celebration brings you joy, renewal, and hope for the coming year.”

“I want to wish everyone a very happy Holi this year as we take this opportunity to commemorate the joyous festival of color for Hindu, Indian, and other communities around the world. Through this celebration of the rebirth of spring, the triumph of good over evil, and the victory of light over darkness, I hope that we begin to see more light in 2022 and appreciate the bright days ahead.”

Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10):

“Wishing a Happy Holi to those celebrating the arrival of spring in the South Sound and across the nation. The vibrant Hindu festival of Holi gives us hope for a brighter and more colorful future that awaits us. As we and my fellow CAPAC members celebrate Holi, let us recommit ourselves to strengthening ties between family, friends, loved ones, and the communities we live in.”

Congresswoman Katherine Clark (MA-05):

“Happy Holi to all across the United States and the world celebrating the Festival of Colors! As we witness conflicts around the world and take stock of the tragedy of the pandemic, I am hopeful that Holi’s message of light over darkness will bring us all a moment of peace. May this season bring joy and prosperity to every family here and abroad as we ring in a new spring.”
